March, 2007: Georgia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals opened its doors

December 2007: Took 3 of the pit bulls seized from the Michael Vick dogfighting ring (the only rescue group in Georgia to do so) and placed them into loving homes

2008: Helped close a Jackson County, GA puppy mill, with over 300 animals taken (the largest dog seizure in Georgia history)

May, 2008 Received 501 (c)3 making us a recognized tax-exempt organization where contributions are generally tax-deductible

2008: Rescued and placed 830 animals into loving homes

2009: Partnered with law enforcement to shut down 2 dog fighting rings in Talbot Co. and Montgomery Co., GA, rescuing 63 dogs

2009: Rescued and placed 901 animals into loving homes

July 2010: Took in more than 25 dogs/puppies seized from a local puppy mill

2010: Rescued and placed 1048 animals into loving homes

March 2011: Expanded the shelter from 2,000 sf to 5,500sf, entirely with donated materials and labor, allowing for additional quarantine rooms, an indoor meet-and-greet area, 5 new large dog kennels and 40 new small dog kennels

March 2011: Held our 1st Run for the Rescues

June 2011: Held our first monthly on-site low-cost vaccination clinic

July 2011: Named "Small Business of the Month" by the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce

August 2011: Held our 2nd “You Ain’t Nothin’ but a Pound Dog” benefit, raising over $30,000 to support the Georgia SPCA’s activities and operating expenses

2011: Rescued and placed 1,167 animals into loving homes

March 2012: Held our 2nd Run for the Rescues, raising $17,000 for the Georgia SPCA’s activities and operating expenses

April 2012: Georgia SPCA’s Executive Director appointed to the Gwinnett County Animal Task force, formed to develop short- and long-term strategies to increase adoptions, improve animal welfare and protect human safety

December 2012: Chosen as the featured non-profit for the "Special Edition Networking Gwinnett" Christmas event.
