February 4, 2012: Is there anything cuter than a sleeping baby? Kathy Hemmings, one of our fabulous volunteers and Board members, found 6 puppies born to two feral mothers in a field off I285 near the airport. Kathy thinks there are 9 pups total. She found 3 pups last week, 3 yesterday, and is still trying to find the other 3. Some appear to be about 4 1/2 weeks old, and some 3 1/2 weeks. Once she has all the pups, Kathy will try to catch the moms. The staff and volunteers worked until nearly 9:00 pm last night worming, bathing and defleaing. All were happily snoozing in foster homes at the end of the day. This is little Panda. She'll be ready to go to a new home in about 4 weeks.
February 5, 2012: Thanks so much to all the fosters who came forward to take these pups! Kathy and our staff rescued 8 more. Will try to coax the Moms out of hiding now.

8/10/11: Angel was rescued in Gainesville by a kind soul, when she showed up on his doorstep. This was an especially sad situation - little Angel was cruelly mistreated. Someone tied a cord around her tail, resulting in a wound so severe that most of her tail needed to be amputated. No one seemed to know who owned this dear kitty. We debated at length whether to show the photos of her injury, and finally decided to post them on a separate page, but be forewarned - these are graphic images.
Update 8/30/11: Angel's operation was very successful! She made it through her surgery with flying colors, and is going to her foster home to recuperate. She should be up for adoption in a few weeks. Spread the word to see if anyone is looking to make her a part of their home!
February, 2011: A keen sense of smell led to the rescue of Tundra, a 4-month old bully mix. Bella, also a bully mix, was on a walk with her Mom, Tobi, one of our terrific volunteers, when Bella started tugging frantically at her leash. They were in a subdivision where homes had been left partially built when the developer declared bankruptcy. A place they rarely ever walked. Suddenly, Bella sniffed the air, and dragged Tobi over to a cardboard box, barking and yipping along the way. Tobi peeked inside the box and found this adorable face, nestled in a sweater beside a can of dog food, gazing up at her. Tobi fostered Tundra until just the right home was found. This is truly a happy ever after story!
February, 2011: These darling pups were left on our doorstep on a cold day in February. They have all been placed into loving homes!

February, 2011: One cold morning in February, Pam heard scratching outside the back door of the shelter. She opened the door, but everything seemed quiet. She went back inside, and a few minutes later heard more scratching. She looked again, and realized the scratching was coming from a big plastic bin... a bin that was completely closed with a lid! She took a deep breath, looked inside, and found six adorable black puppies crammed inside! Thank heavens she heard them, or they would have suffocated! Every one of these adorable pups have been placed in their forever home!
August 24, 2010: A good samaritan risked her own life today by stopping on Ronald Reagan Blvd. to rescue this adorable Russian Blue Kitten that had wandered onto the highway. "Reagan" is now safe and sound, and has gone to a new happy forever home!
August 23, 2010: Baby was found in my neighborhood by a couple who were walking their dogs and heard her crying. She was scared, but healthy. We don't know why she was all alone in the bushes. Baby is a sweet, curious kitten who is quickly learning how to melt my heart. At first she was a little shy, but she quickly warmed up to us and has adjusted well to two large dogs and another cat. I think she thoroughly enjoys putting the guilt trip on me by sitting in front of the playroom door window crying to be let out. I can't resist those sad eyes and pitiful cry. She enjoys getting out of her room and exploring the rest of the house. She like to sit by the window and loves her kitten Kong toy. These picture were taken when she was 5 weeks old. Baby has found her forever home!

August, 2010: Hello my name is Livingston. I was dropped with my friend. Our owner stuffed us in a box and taped it shut. WOW we were really scared. My friend and I decided that things were not looking very good for us. We went for a car ride and we were outside. WE were really tired, so we fell asleep. When the sun came up we felt someone pick us up. They cut open the box and to our surprise it was the Georgia SPCA! Yeah! Their loving hands picked us up, and we knew we were safe. And the story just keeps getting better... I have now found a loving home!

August, 2010: My name is Anabelle. I'm very happy to be at the GA SPCA. They found me in a box outside of their door one morning. I was with my friend Livingston. It took awhile for my loving adopter to come along, but in December I went to my new home!

August, 2010: This is Diamond BEFORE our employee/volunteer/fosterer/big-hearted-animal-lover Karen found her running loose in the street and chased her down and caught her. Her companion was with her but couldn't be caught. Karen took her to our SPCA Shelter, where we had her groomed.....
This is Diamond AFTER she was groomed and taken care of by the SPCA. Diamond is now happy to be in a loving forever home!

23 July 2010: My daughter’s name is Maeryn. Today is her tenth birthday, and in lieu of presents this year, she asked all her family and friends to make a donation to the Georgia SPCA.

June, 2010. This is Gabriel. He was hit by a car and left on the steps of a local Animal Hospital. The good people at the hospital didn't give up on him. They amputated his leg, and asked us to help find him a forever home. He's an energetic, happy go lucky dog, that didn't get the memo that he only has 3 legs! He went to his new home this week, and we all wish him a long and happy life!

June, 2010. Carl, the tabby, and Becky, his sister, were rescued on June 13th by one of our wonderful Georgia SPCA volunteers. The 3 week old kittens were found in Jones Bridge Park, totally alone in a cardboard box in the 100 degree heat. The caring volunteer rushed them to the Georgia SPCA where they were met with warm kitten formula and a snuggly bed. Tabby and Becky have both found a new home.

June, 2010. Hi! My name is Pastel. I am a sweet, gentle dilute calico cat who was recently rescued. I used to live as a stray at Lake Lanier. The rangers started trapping my friends and relatives there. I was super lucky, as I was rescued by a nice lady, Carmela. Instead of getting trapped and "taken away", I wasn't scared and I let her pick me up. She took me home and gave me yummy food, a warm bed, lots of hugs and kisses . . . and a SHOT! OUCH! She said it was for my own good. She made sure I was vaccinated, dewormed, spayed, received flea & tick prevention, tested for Feline Leukemia and FIV and received a microchip. Of course, Carmela doesn't fully understand cat language, but she thinks I've been trying to tell her that I used to live in a house because I'm so sweet and understand what a litterbox is for!
I am now with my new family, and will be living a long life in the comfort and safety of my new home!

June, 2010. Omega is an adorable kitty who is especially lucky. Rangers at the West Bank Park at Lake Lanier began trapping and "removing" cats and kittens from the park recently. Some volunteers were there on May 1 trying to trap cats and kittens and save them before the rangers trapped them. They looked down and saw a precious little tabby walking right toward them! They scooped her up and took her home. She wasn't afraid, and loves people. She loves to be held and snuggled. Omega might be the last kitten saved from West Bank Park, so we feel she is a good luck charm! Omega has been adopted by her forever family and couldn't be happier!
All IT TAKES IS 1 AND 1!

Thank you so much,
