Volunteer Opportunities

As of 8/19/10

ADOPTION FOLLOWUP CALLS: About a week after every adoption a follow-up call needs to be made to the new pet owner to see how it's going, and to offer advice for any problems that may arise. Contact Laura Cegalis - This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

ART AND PRINTING: We have a need for artists and printing. If this is anyone's expertise we'd love to hear from you, or let us know if you know of anyone that might donate their services. Contact Gail Connor – This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

COORDINATION OF VOLUNTEERS: We need volunteers to help with the coordination of our volunteers. This would include helping to direct new volunteers to their areas of interest, setting up orientations, following up with volunteers helping at the Adoption Center, and looking for new volunteers.   Contact Gail Connor at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. DEVELOPMENT AND FINANCE: We need ongoing research to find new opportunities as well as potential areas of growth for the shelter, i.e. new facility location, cost of adding a vet service, researching other shelters for ideas and better methods, etc. Contact Louise Galaska - This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. DONATION BOXES:   We’re looking for volunteers willing to place donation boxes in restaurants, stores and gas stations, and service the boxes. Contact Gail Connor at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

EDUCATION: We are committed to educating children and adults about all aspects of responsible pet ownership. We are developing many different education programs for schools, clubs and individuals. We need people to help us with making videos, developing programs and emailing schools. Contact Gail Connor at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. FOSTERING: Volunteers are needed to foster kittens or puppies until they are old enough to be spay/neutered, or when socialization is needed. Kittens and puppies have virtually no immune system and really benefit from being in a foster home the first few weeks of life. The foster parents normally return them to the shelter for their surgery at about 8 weeks of age. Once spayed or neutered they remain at the shelter for adoption.   In addition, volunteers are needed to help find foster homes and visit new foster homes. Contact Mary Leonard – This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
