FOSTERING: Volunteers are needed to foster kittens or puppies until they are old enough to be spay/neutered, or when socialization is needed. Kittens and puppies have virtually no immune system and really benefit from being in a foster home the first few weeks of life. The foster parents normally return them to the shelter for their surgery at about 8 weeks of age. Once spayed or neutered they remain at the shelter for adoption. In addition, volunteers are needed to help find foster homes and visit new foster homes. Contact Gail Connor –

All kids can help at the Adoption Center with a trained adult chaperone. Kids 14 or older may help at the shelter unchaperoned. Although we can use volunteers at the Adoption Center throughout the day, our greatest need is at 9:00 am every day when the thorough cleaning of the cages and kennels is done.
